Year 5 and 6 netball tournament had a soggy, early finish!

On Thursday 5th December 2013 Meath Green A and B netball teams travelled to Oakwood to play in an early season tournament against all the other Horley schools.
As there were 5 schools present there were a lot of matches to get through in both the A and B pools.  It was all running smoothly to start with but then it all changed and we had torrential rain making the court slipppery and dangerous so unfortunately the tournament had to be stopped before all the matches had been played

Meath Green A managed to play 2 of their 4 matches and luckily Meath Green B managed to play all 3 of their matches before the rain and the results were as follows:-

Meath Green A started their evening with a match against Manorfield where it did take them a while to get in to their stride but once they did the play was mainly all theirs and they won comfortably   2-0.
They then had to play another game straight after so a real test of their fitness!  It was against Salfords A and was a much closer match with the ball continually going from one end to the other but neither team seemed able to score and it finished as a 0-0 draw.
Then just before their next game unfortunately the rain stopped play!!

Meath Green B started with a game against Yattendon B which although being a very even match we just couldn't score and ended up losing 1-0 but they didn't let that dishearten them and were ready for their next one.
It was a match against Burstow B next which again was a close game but this time along with our great team play we managed to score and ended up winning 1-0.
Their final game was against Salfords B and the rain had started by now making play much harder!  They battled on regardless and although they didn't score as many as they could have they did score 1 and managed to prevent Salfords from scoring at all with some fantastic defending, finishing with a well deserved win of 1-0.

As all the matches couldn't be played we couldn't have any final overall results but the players should be extremely proud of themselves for their attitude and play especially when the weather did take a turn for the worst!
A huge thank you to all the players and to the parents/family members who stayed to watch even in the rain!
