Reading for Pleasure - including booklists

At Meath Green Junior School children receive a rich curriculum which encourages extensive reading of whole books and other kinds of texts. Active encouragement of reading for pleasure is a core part of every child’s educational entitlement, whatever their background or attainment because we know that extensive reading and exposure to a wide range of texts make a huge contribution to students’ educational achievement. ( Reading for Pleasure Policy Statement )

The information on this page is for parents, carers and children to encourage the habit of reading for pleasure and to foster a life-long interest in books.

Most of the booklists have been produced in association with CLPE (Centre for Literacy in Primary Education) and provide recommendations on a huge range of modern texts aimed specifically at primary age children.
