Governors Impact Statement
Governor Impact Statement 2023-2024
The Governing Body meets termly for each of the following committees: Full Governing Body focusing on either Finance or Learning & Standards. We also meet termly for Health and Safety and Strategy committees. We primarily focus on three main tasks: ensuring clarity of vision, ethos, and strategic direction; holding the Head teachers and senior leaders to account for the educational performance of the school and overseeing the financial performance of the school to make sure the money is spent well.
Governors are additionally involved in several areas as shown below.
Action |
Impact |
Safeguarding |
The Safeguarding Governor ensures that we are fully compliant and that relevant policies and DBS checks for new staff and governors are in place. Governors also ensure that the Single Central Record is regularly checked. |
Finance |
Governors play an important part in discussions around the difficulties surrounding budget constraints. The school has kept to its budget without sacrificing staff and has again managed a carry-forward in difficult times. |
Link Governors
|
Individual governors are responsible for specific areas of importance to the school, including Safeguarding, SEN, Pupil Premium, Assessment, Literacy and Maths. Governors meet with relevant staff and report back to the governing body; this ensures governors are better informed and can hold the school to account. |
School visits |
All governors visit the school at least once a year, for example, to go on learning walks, to review a fire drill, to attend maths or literacy mornings or to attend school events. This ensures governors know the school well. |
Governor training |
Governors have completed training on several areas including safeguarding, monitoring, pupil premium, and the role of the governor. Training ensures governors can challenge the school and hold it to account. |
Pupil and Sports Premium |
Governors monitor the use of pupil and sports funding and monitor the outcome of the use of this money. |
Strategic Planning |
Governors have been developing a strategic three-year plan, to ensure that the medium- and long-term needs and aspirations of the school are met. |
Head Teacher Appraisal |
Governors carry out an annual Head Teacher appraisal. |
