GB Sports Star and ex pupil visits MGJ

Dani Christmas and ex MGJ pupil and GB runner and now GB cyclist

visits MGJ

Dani Christmas pupil at Meath Green Junior School between 1995 and 1999 returned to the school to share her experiences as a GB athlete and cyclist with pupils.

She explained how the Rivers trophy she was awarded at the school was her first ever sports trophy and inspired her to become a professional athlete.

Dani went on to talk about her achievements and the hard work and resilience, not luck that secures successes such as Commonwealth gold, and how her athletics career was cut short by injury. She went on to describe how she then very unusually became professional in another sport, cycling and how she has gone on to represent GB in her new chosen sport.

Dani went on to encourage the pupils to think about what they wanted to achieve in the long and short term and how to break these goals down to make them achievable.

She went on to answer questions the pupils had about her successes.

Pupils and staff were all inspired by Dani and her career so far.

We wish her every success in the future especially next season where she is targeting a podium finish in the ladies, road world championships in Yorkshire.

Thank you Dani for taking the time to come in and visit us.
