Meath Green Junior School Orchestra The orchestra last met on Tuesday 17 March 2020, before lockdown. In the Spring Term we had been working on a set of 6 pieces in preparation for the summer concert. Year 6 members had also been learning to conduct these pieces. Since lockdown some of our players have had instrumental lessons via Zoom, but practising and learning on your own is hard work. The real joy and fun of music is sharing it with others. At the beginning of June, I decided we must try to capture some of that fun and sent everyone a backing track of one of our pieces. Each player then recorded themselves playing their part whilst listening to the backing track through an earpiece. All the videos have been put together and the result is a good performance of Chariots of Fire. I am really proud of all our pupils taking part; they have independently shown great musical skills in their ability to count rests, to play the right notes at the right time, to maintain a steady tempo and keep with the pulse. I look forward to the time when we can once again make music together in the same room at the same time. Until then, please enjoy this wonderful performance recorded and filmed remotely. Mrs Nye
