Two wonderful Christmas Shows were put on by our school this year. The Christmas Present, as performed by years 3 & 4, told the story of three children who were about to go to bed on Christmas Eve when they notice a huge Christmas present in the corner of the room. When they examine this present more closely they discover that it is, quite literally, a Christmas present, as it has Christmas inside it. No end of characters magically pour out from it, and through each of them the children start to see beyond the materialism and traditions of Christmas, to what it is really about .
The Bethlehem Herald, as performed by years 5 & 6 took us to Roman occupied Bethlehem BC by way of a rift in time. A reporter for the Herald newspaper has come to Meath Green Junior School to report on a crib service in 2006. Imagine her surprise when she discovers an astonishing phenomenon has occurred. As people approach the school they find they are being taken back through the centuries, until by the time they reach the front door of the school they are in Roman occupied Bethlehem. Our reporter seizes on the opportunity to report on this scoop story and while interviewing the soldiers and the Bethlehem crowds, the extraordinary events of Christmas unfold.
Well done to everyone who helped organize the shows. Through their hard work and dedication our Christmas performances can be enjoyed by all.
