The Horley Learning Partnership (HLP) is an Extended Learning Confederation in
partnership with schools and other agencies, in order to generate quality educational opportunities to inspire a life-long learning community. The schools provide access to:
• quality childcare,
• various activities including sports and study support,
• parenting support including family learning,
• swift and easy referral to specialised support services, and
• community access including adult learning.
It is about bringing people together and joining activities. This includes sharing of expertise, facilities and resources. As a Trailblazer, the Horley Learning Partnership is piloting a change management process that is intended to accelerate the progress towards offering the full core of extended services. This joined up provision of services is key to the success of the Every Child Matters Agenda.
The Horley Learning Partnership was officially formed in 2003 and entered into a Service Level Agreement with the LEA. In February 2004, we became an Associate Member of NCSL Networked Leaning Communities. This gave us access to their expertise and resources and led to our involvement with other Networks.
A group of schools was chosen to pilot the Surrey initiative ‘Organising for Success’, these are:
• Burstow Primary School
• Charlwood Infant School
• Horley Infant School
• Manorfield Primary and Nursery School
• Meath Green Infant School
• Meath Green Junior School
• Salfords School
• Langshott Infant School
• Oakwood School
• Woodfield School
• Yattendon School
The main focus of this pilot project was the development of a range of services to a group of schools within a pilot locality to develop autonomous management and integrated service delivery.
This promotes social inclusion, raises achievement and the role of schools as part of community solutions to local needs.
