My name is MARK GARDINER – parent to Rachel (Year 4) and Zak (Year 3) am going to be running the
London Marathon on 13th April 2014 on behalf of the British Forces Foundation.
As part of my participation in this Marathon, I'm required to raise £1500.00 to be donated directly to the
British Forces Foundation. Your donation of any amount would be a great help toward my reaching this goal.
My decision to run for this worthy charity is down to my son-in-law who currently serves in the Grenadier Guards for the Army. Matthew at only 23 years old, has seen some awful sites and been through some tough times and having served two tours of 6 months each in Afghanistan. This year I decided that I too wanted to make a difference and help in my own way to support our Forces. I therefore have been searching for ways to support the Forces and this year, I think I found a great one, putting myself through 26 miles of hell !!! But this is nothing compared to what our service guys do every day around the world for
The British Forces Foundation (BFF) aims to boost and maintain the morale of the men and women of our Armed Forces by providing high quality entertainment and other innovative programmes designed to demonstrate public support for the work they do and the sacrifices they are prepared to make.
VIRGIN LONDON MARATHON
is one of the great British sporting events, combining elite athletics, mass participation and record-breaking fundraising in one race. The course is a grueling 26 miles 385 yards long, passing through the streets of London from Blackheath to the famous finish line at The Mall.
